Our team offers an array of inspection and testing services including, but not limited to the following:

Concrete testing
Concrete testing (slump, air entrainment, temperature, laboratory compressive strength, etc.) in accordance with ACI, as well as performing post-cure destructive evaluations via Windsor Probe (ASTM C-803), rebound (Schmidt) hammer, and concrete coring.
Compaction Testing & Soil/Subgrade Evaluations
Site soil compaction testing via the nuclear method, ASTM D-6938, and subgrade inspection and validation prior to structural concrete elements, subsurface utility and infrastructure, and pavements. Performing soil probing and Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) testing of subgrade soils to determine stability and bearing capacity prior to foundation/slab installation.
Reinforcement & masonry inspections
Rebar placement review and tie/lap length verification for concrete and masonry units. Mortar and grout mix testing including compressive strength testing, and masonry unit inspections including completeness of void filling with grout.
Structural steel, bolting & welding inspection
Visual weld inspection, high-strength bolting (preload verification, torque/tensioning checks), structural steel frame erection review, and NDT Testing & CWI inspections (available upon request).
Retaining Walls & Slope Reinforcements
Wall reinforcement, compaction testing, drainage verification, embedment, and block placement; inspections of earth retaining structures and slope stabilizations.
Fireproofing, firestopping & protective systems inspection
Thermal protection inspections on steel/structural elements including spray-applied and intumescent coatings and firestop materials. Exterior Insulation Finish System (EIFS) inspections to ensure compliance with architectural plans and manufacturer specifications.
Paving, subbase, and sitework inspections
Stone subgrade, base and wearing courses, paving compaction (ASTM D-2950) with temperature readings and thickness validation.
We have ICC- and ACI-certified accreditations

With ICC- and ACI-certified accreditations, we are qualified to serve as an independent third-party inspection agency (TPIA) for commercial, institutional, residential, and specialty projects. We also provide limited NJ Special Inspectors and ICC Certified Inspectors for limited scopes upon request.

Stormwater Management Infrastructure Inspections
Stormwater infrastructure observation including confirmatory infiltration testing, trench backfill compaction, and key infrastructure to the long term functionality of surface and subsurface stormwater management facilities. Qualified Visual Site inspectors available to provide critical oversight for projects with NPDES requirements

Why Choose IES for SPECIAL Inspections

    • Regulatory safeguard & regional knowledge – When building codes or authorities require Construction Materials Testing (CMT) and third-party inspections, we serve as your safeguard, verifying that construction matches design intent. We are familiar with local jurisdictions, building officials, inspection protocols, and permitting processes in PA, MD, NJ, and DE.

    • Qualified staff & continuing education – Our inspectors maintain ICC and ACI certifications and attend ongoing training to stay current with evolving codes, standards, and best practices.

    • Independent oversight – As an unbiased, third-party inspection agency, we provide objective verification to ensure transparency, accuracy, and project integrity, free from contractor or ownership conflicts of interest.
